Opto22 Engineered Systems

In addition to the other services that we provide, RDI Controls has teamed up with Opto22 to develop Engineered Solutions utilizing the versatile SNAP I/O system.

The SNAP I/O system has an unsurpassed reputation for quality and is capable of providing both the I/O and Controller functionality for your Process Control / Automation, Data Acquisition, and Communication (local / remote (SCADA), Ethernet, serial, etc.) applications.

Opto’s Ultimate I/O successfully combines I/O, control functions, Ethernet networking, and enterprise connectivity into a single, cohesive system. The SNAP Ultimate I/O system allows for control to be embedded into the I/O itself, creating a localized, less complex control system architecture as well as the ability to easily provide data to existing Enterprise Management Systems.

Some of the features of the SNAP Ultimate I/O system are as follows:

Hardware:
-    Supports a mix of Analog, Digital, and Serial I/O modules.

-    Each product is 200% tested before any module leaves the factory.

-    Programmable functions can be executed independently at the I/O level.

-    Each Controller can be setup to run multiple control strategies simultaneously.

-    Controllers can communicate with multiple I/O Brain Boards (locally or remotely) which
allows process control strategies to run at the I/O level, centrally, or a combination of
      both.

-    Peer to Peer communication ensures that process information from one control module       is available at other control modules.

-    Each Ultimate I/O Controller runs on a 32bit processor with 16MB RAM, 8MB Flash
Memory. Log files can be generated, saved to Flash, and retrieved at a latter dated via
FTP. Files can also be imported, into the controller, to set up control parameters,
     recipes, etc.

-    Ethernet connectivity via Internet Protocol (IP-Based) allows ease of connectivity to
existing networks (LAN, WAN) and/or the creation of new networks utilizing standard
     networking hardware.

-    Communication Modes (network topology): Ethernet, Wireless, LAN, Cellular, Radio
      Modem, and Dial-up PPP.

-    Exchanges data directly with Enterprise Databases (no additional software needed).

-    Supports simultaneous use of multiple application level protocols including
     Modbus/TCP, FTP, SNMP, SMTP, etc.

Software:
-    ioControl – used to configure Process Control strategies:

   -    Flowchart based control software with a script language built in.

   -    Allows multiple control strategies to run simultaneous within each controller.

   -    Self-documenting English language command set.

   -    Included at no charge with an Ultimate I/O controller.

-    ioDisplay – cost effective Human Machine Interface (HMI) package:

   -    Provides customizable process data and graphical displays to give Operators and                 Technicians the information they need.

   -    Creates a soft operator interface for control and monitoring of your process.

   -    Security features to control and log HMI use.

   -    Plot real time or historical trends using up to 16 data points.

   -    Software runs on a standard PC connected to the control network. This allows for                   control / monitoring (locally or remotely) of your process via a network connection.

-    OptoOPC Server – OLE for Process Control (OPC) server allows for easily exchanging
data with other systems (controls, databases, other HMIs, etc.) within your network as
well as interfacing to customized applications (C++, Visual Basic, etc.) that may already
     be running at your plant.
